Kelly Ripa Shares Big News as David Muir Makes Heartfelt Post — Fans Stunned by What They Revealed

ABC’s David Muir has once again grabbed headlines after making a heartfelt post with LIVE with Kelly and Mark co-host Kelly Ripa, who, alongside her husband Mark Consuelos, just unveiled a life-changing project that has fans talking nonstop.

The World News Tonight anchor recently sat down with the couple ahead of the premiere of their new ESPN docuseries, Running with the Wolves, which follows their incredible journey of becoming Italian soccer team owners.

On the LIVE set, Muir warmly hugged Ripa and Consuelos and exclaimed: “You’ve really done it. You’ve gone and bought a team.” The sweet clip was posted to both World News Tonight and Ripa’s Instagram, sending viewers into a frenzy.

The joint caption read: “‘LIVE with Kelly and Mark’ co-host Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos share a new side of themselves as Italian soccer team owners, ahead of a new ESPN docuseries about their journey to help lift a town and their underdog soccer team. @DavidMuirABC speaks with them about their new docuseries Running with the Wolves on ESPN.”

The buzz came shortly after Muir himself delivered a surprise four-word update on-air, making his post with Ripa even more impactful. Fans quickly jumped into the comments, raving about the series. One viewer wrote: “Just watched the first two episodes! Ready for the next two and hopefully more.” Another added: “Great story! Good luck.” A third gushed: “Can’t wait to watch this!”

A Deeply Personal Journey

The four-part docuseries follows Ripa and Consuelos as they travel back to Italy, where Consuelos spent much of his childhood, to help revive Campobasso FC — a historic club founded in 1919.

“This project is particularly special to me,” Consuelos explained, recalling his first seven years in Italy and his mother’s emotional reaction when the nation won the 1982 World Cup. The project has strengthened his bond with her, with Ripa joking: “She’s actually very good; she should be in team management.”

Saving a Forgotten Town

Campobasso, located in a little-known region of southern Italy, was on the verge of losing its football club of over 100 years. The couple’s investment couldn’t have come at a more crucial moment.

Local fans, some who have supported the team for decades, now thank the couple for keeping their beloved club alive. Consuelos said: “People have been fans for 40, 50 years, and then you see little kids finally wearing the jerseys and having something to root for. It’s not work — it’s an honor.”

Ripa added passionately: “We really want to win for them. Of course, we want to win, but above all, we want to win for the town.”

The four-part Running with the Wolves premiered July 29 on ESPN and ESPN+, and early reactions suggest it’s already becoming a must-watch.
