Deanna, newborn Logan and two-year-old son Mark were all admitted to Jim Pattison Children\u2019s Hospital (JPCH) at the same time in June 2023.<\/p>\n

Deanna and her husband, Jon, from Osler, Sask., were excited to welcome their second son into the world after a normal pregnancy and birth. Just hours after coming home for the first time, Logan became lethargic and they rushed him back to JPCH. He was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).<\/p>\n

Later that week, their older son, Mark, developed a fever that would not subside. Tests revealed dangerously low hemoglobin and he was rushed to JPCH. Deanna and Jon learned Mark had leukemia \u2014 just a week after Logan was born.<\/p>\n

Shortly after, Deanna experienced a hemorrhage from retained placenta and needed to be admitted to JPCH as well.<\/p>\n

After 40 days, many tears and sleepless nights, the family returned home. Mark continued chemotherapy at JPCH as an outpatient and completed his treatment in August 2025.<\/p>\n

Today, Logan and Deanna are fully recovered, and Mark still goes to JPCH for monthly bloodwork monitoring.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on their journey, Jon and Deanna said, \u201cJPCH gave us our family back.\u201d This holiday season, help another family share the same joy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
