BAR TRAGEDY One dead and five injured in mass shooting at Texas sports bar as cops launch manhunt
Two of the six people who were shot are in a critical condition
A MASS shooting has broken out at a sports bar in Texas leaving one person dead and five injured.
Two of the victims are said to be in a critical condition.
Six people were shot, one fatally, at the Alas Locas sports bar in Liberty County in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Cops have launched a manhunt for the gunman who is still on the run.
His identity has not yet been released but the Liberty Sheriff’s Office revealed he had been a patron at the bar earlier in the night.
Gunfire broke out around 2:27 am local time at the bar on County Road, the sheriff’s office said.
The group of people who were shot had all been outside on the patio.
One man, who has not been identified, died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the four other men and one woman who were shot were all taken to a nearby hospital.
Two were transported by helicopter and are in a critical condition.
The others are said to not have life-threatening injuries.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect had been at the bar on Saturday night for about 30 minutes before the shooting.
He subsequently left before returning when the bar had closed and opening fire.
“He went in, had a few beers, left and we don’t know if he left the scene or just stayed in the parking lot but a few minutes after he left the establishment that’s when the shots rang out,” Captain David Meyers told Bluebonnet News.
At least 20 shots were fired from two different guns, with bullets flying into the bar but not striking anyone inside.
Captain David Meyers added that officers do not know what the motive is for the shooting.
Cops are now hunting for the gunman who is described as a Hispanic male.
He was last seen wearing shorts and a blue shirt.
The suspect fled the scene in a white work van with a scratch on the left side and damage to the front right bumper and headlight and appeared to be heading north.
Officials are scouring surveillance footage for any further information about the gunman.
Meyers confirmed some footage will be released shortly of the suspected gunman and his vehicle.
The Texas Rangers and district attorney’s office are all involved in the investigation.
Anyone with any information is urged to call the sheriff’s office at 936-336-4500 or contact CrimeStoppers.
