From Scars to Supermodel: The Unconquerable Spirit of Reshma Rodriguez

When Rodriguez was just two months old, her father attacked her and her mother with acid, enraged that she had been born a girl. The attack killed her mother and left Rodriguez permanently scarred. Her father was arrested, and the rest of her family abandoned her.

She was rescued by the Mumbai-based orphanage Shree Manav Seva Sangh, where she grew up. Today, Rodriguez is a global inspiration she works to empower fellow acid attack survivors and has become a recognized fashion icon.

In 2017, she founded the Sahas Foundation, an NGO dedicated to supporting acid attack survivors in their rehabilitation. Alongside her charity work, Rodriguez is also a fashion influencer and TEDx speaker, sharing her story worldwide.

She made her acting debut in the short film Aunty Ji, where she starred alongside veteran actress Shabana Azmi, further proving her resilience and determination to break barriers.
