BREAKING: SHAME ON HIM! Speaker Mike Johnson says the Pope DESERVED to be attacked by Trump because he “waded into political waters” in an astounding defense of Trump’s deranged insults against the Holy Father!

When forced by the media to confront yet another outrageous Trump incident that he couldn’t pretend not to have heard about, House Speaker Mike Johnson blamed the Pope for inciting Trump’s attack by being “political” about, uh, murdering children and waging war.

“We defend free speech, we certainly defend the right to the free exercise of religion, and you know, pontiff or any religious leader can say anything they want, but obviously if you wade into political waters, I think you should expect some political response and i think that the pope’s received some of that.”

He went on to then CRITICIZE the Pope for condemning Trump’s illegal Iran war: “You know I was taken a little bit of back, just honestly, frankly but uh… something that was said, I think he said several days back, that uh… something about those who engage in war, ‘you know that Jesus doesn’t hear their prayers’ or something uh… You know it is a very well-settled matter of Christian theology; there’s something called the “just war doctrine.”

Evangelical zealot Mike Johnson should read up on his Thomas Aquinas, because nothing about Trump’s war with Iran constitutes a “just war.” In fact, Iran’s response constituted a “just war!”

Was Trump defending against an aggressor? No, he was the aggressor.

Was it authorized by a legitimate authority? No, Trump ignored Congress and launched it on his own volition.

Did the aims have rightful intention? No, Trump couldn’t even really articulate any real justification for it beyond “being the guy who took out the Ayatollah.”

Was it a war of last resort? No, Trump instead used negotiations as a cover for his war preparations in a disgraceful show of cowardice.

Were the means just? No, Trump targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure indiscriminately and killed thousands of people.

Nothing about Trump’s Iran was “just.” By abdicating his constitutional responsibility to let our elected representatives decide whether or not to go to war, Johnson is just as responsible as Trump is for all those poor dead kids and all the lives ruined by Trump’s warmongering.

Shame on him for defending Trump and for trying to blame the Pope for Trump’s appalling attacks.
