Twenty-year-old Christian Macias pulled over because he ran out of gas. Fifteen days later, his mother is still waiting for him to open his eyes.

Corina reached out to me asking if we would all pray for her son, who remains in a coma after what she says was a horrific crash in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She told me Christian had pulled onto the shoulder of Interstate 37 with his hazard lights on after running out of gas.
According to his family, a 911 caller first reported seeing his disabled vehicle. A short time later, another 911 call came in reporting that a wrecker had slammed into his car.
Now, everything has changed.
Christian was found lying in the roadway with a severe head injury. His mother says he suffered a skull fracture, bleeding on his brain, brain swelling that doctors have been closely monitoring, a broken hip, and a shattered arm so badly damaged that the bone was protruding through the skin.
Surgeons have already repaired his arm, but he remains in a coma as his family waits and prays for any sign he is waking up.
Looking at these photos, it’s hard to imagine the pain this family is living through.
The machines are keeping watch over every breath while his mother sits beside him hoping today will be the day her son opens his eyes.
Then she shared something about Christian that comes from a mom’s heart that’s hurting.
“My son has the most beautiful brain,” she wrote.
She said he was the kid who brought home report cards filled with 100s, 99s, and 98s.
She says his heart was even bigger than his grades.
“He would give you his last dollar and say God’s got you.”
She says Christian never turned away people who wanted to talk about faith. Even during times when she struggled herself, she says it was her son who reminded her to pray.
“He never, ever doubted God’s love.”
Today, that same mother who was once encouraged by her son’s faith is asking all of us to pray for him.
Pray the swelling continues to improve. Pray his brain heals.
Pray that after 15 heartbreaking days, Christian opens his eyes and begins the long road back to his family.
Tonight, let’s help remind this family they are not praying alone.
